Direction and accountability

This institution works to a defined structure of accountability. Research direction, site operations, participant data, programme leadership and collaboration are five distinct functions, and no study proceeds until each one has a holder answerable for it.

This page distinguishes the named legal representative from the functions required for each study. Centre appointments and additional personnel will be published when confirmed, with the individuals’ agreement.

Direction

Arumugam Amruthalingam is président of SAS Abbaye Saint-Pierre and director of publication. He is the company’s legal representative. Research access is agreed by the organisation responsible for each space, activity or asset.

The company’s direction is responsible for the coherence of the four-centre agenda and for institutional commitments. Scientific leadership, methods and approval responsibilities are agreed for each study with the relevant research partners.

Centre leadership

The four centres organise the research agenda. Scientific leadership arrangements are developed with partners; this page does not yet identify an appointed lead for every centre. Each study must have a named scientific lead before it begins.

How responsibility is organised

Five functions. Each must have a holder answerable for it before a study begins.

Specialists

Regulated work is carried out by the professionals entitled to do it. Conservation of the estate’s movable heritage is the responsibility of a State-qualified furniture conservator, who files an intervention report for each treatment; those reports form part of the estate’s permanent record.

Affiliated researchers

Collaborators are credited with their actual institutional or independent affiliation. Scientific responsibility and any doctoral supervision are agreed with the relevant partners; degree awards remain the responsibility of the awarding institution.

Appointments

We welcome enquiries about scientific leadership, jointly developed research and residencies. Any position, appointment or funded opportunity will be advertised separately once its terms and resources are confirmed.

The studies currently in design are set out under programmes, and that is the stage at which an incoming researcher has most influence over how the work is framed.
